A Metropolitan Police officer has denied causing grievous bodily harm after being accused of tasering a man and leaving him paralysed.
Imran Mahmood, aged 35 from Plaistow, formally pleaded not guilty to a single count of “unlawfully and maliciously” inflicting grievous bodily harm on Jordan Walker-Brown during a pre-trial hearing at Southwark Crown Court.
Jordan, 25, was left paralysed from the chest down when he fell from a wall after being shot with a taser during an incident in Burgoyne Road, Finsbury Park, on 4th May 2020.
The Crown Prosecution Service brought charges against Mahmood after the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the police complaints watchdog, carried out an investigation following a mandatory referral from the Met Police.
Appearing at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday before judge Philip Bartle QC, Mahmood spoke only to confirm his name and enter a plea of not guilty.
He was released on unconditional bail ahead of a five-day trial which is provisionally set to begin on 20th February 2023.
