A group of artists are planning to cover their warehouse in a giant handmade quilt By James Cracknell
How the warehouse is expected to look once it is covered by the quilt
A crafting group based at Harringay Warehouse District is planning to cover an entire building in a big quilt.
Quilt Club, which describes itself as a “not-for-profit community craft collective”, has been gathering at Eade Studios every Wednesday night since November to create a patchwork quilt big enough to cover a warehouse in Overbury Road.
After months of sewing, the quilt is now complete, and to celebrate a “community carnival” is now being planned to take place on Saturday, 2nd July, starting from 12pm. The event will feature live music, as well as the chance to see the newly-quilted warehouse “in all its glory”.
Anna Vincent, one of the artists involved with the project, said: “Our little initiative is about bettering our neighbourhood and championing creativity.”
The warehouse where the quilt will be installed is on the corner of Overbury Road and is a former textile factory, now converted into a communal living space.
