Tottenham Ten raises over £5,000 to help older people in Tottenham Hale

On Saturday, 11th June, over 120 runners took part in The Engine Room’s Tottenham Ten 10km race. Held for the first time since 2019, the race took place on Tottenham Marshes with a start/finish line in Hale Village. The event was supported by Tottenham Hotspur, with staff of the Foundation marshalling. For the first time, the race included a free entry field for young people aged 16-25. Over £5,000 has been raised to date, including fees, sponsorship and fundraising efforts by the runners themselves. The money will go towards The Engine Room’s INSPIRE programme, which aims to help older people in the Tottenham Hale community overcome loneliness and isolation. Runners also raised money for other good causes; Michaela Vavrickova –assistant estates manager for Hale Village – raised over £300 for families in Ukraine, for example. The winning male runner was Ben McIntosh, smashing the course record with a time of 33 minutes and 47 seconds. The female winner was Sarah Hamilton, with a record time of 42 minutes and 11 seconds. In the youth category, Gabriel Niemiec won the male race in 40 minutes 6 seconds, and the fastest youth female was Dominika Rodinger in 51 minutes and 36 seconds.

Club Ambassador and Spurs legend Gary Mabbutt was delighted to once again start the race and encouraged runners with a story about Gary Lineker’s unwillingness to run in training! Andrew Johnston, operations director at The Engine Room, said after the event: “The feedback we get is fantastic and we are looking to continue growing this event which raises vital funds for our community work in Tottenham Hale.
