Tottenham Police Station will close to the public temporarily while the front counter is refurbished, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
For “around four months” residents will instead be able to report crimes at Wood Green Custody Centre, which is not usually open to the public.
The front counter at Tottenham Police Station in Tottenham High Road will close from 8am on Monday, 15th August, with the front counter at Wood Green Custody Centre in Wood Green High Road will open at exactly the same time “to ensure no gap in services to the public”.
Detective Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, of Haringey borough, added: “Tottenham Police Station is being refurbished to ensure it is up to date and features the facilities and equipment staff need to provide the best possible service to the local community. After a temporary period of closure, the front counter will reopen and will be much improved.
“While the refurbishment is taking place, Wood Green Custody Centre will operate a 24/7 front counter for communities in the local area.”
Crimes can also be reported online via www.met.police.uk or on the phone via 101 or 999 in the case of an emergency. People can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
