Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness will remain closed until at least next week, reports Simon Allin, Local Democracy Reporter

“Major works” are underway to resolve an electrical fault that has led to the closure of a leisure centre in Tottenham.
Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness in Philip Lane has been closed since the beginning of the year because of problems with the electricity supply caused by a flood in the plant room. It is not expected to reopen until at least 16th January.
The closure has sparked calls for compensation from members posting on social media platforms.
Fusion Lifestyle, a charity that runs the council-owned leisure centre, says it hopes to announce a reopening date and details of how members will be reimbursed for fees they have paid “later this week”. While the venue remains closed, members have been told they can use Park Road Pools and Fitness in Crouch End or other Fusion-run centres in Enfield.
Fusion said in a statement: “Due to an ongoing electrical fault in the building, our Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness centre currently remains closed. Haringey Council and Fusion are working hard to resolve the issue so we can safely invite our members back into the centre.
“In the meantime, Tottenham Green Leisure Centre members can use Park Road Pools and Fitness centre or any of our centres in Enfield.
“Later this week, we hope to be able to announce a reopening date and will also provide an update on how members will be reimbursed for any fees paid this month. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and thank everyone for their patience.”
Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness underwent an £8million refurbishment in 2014/15. The building that houses the leisure centre is also home to Marcus Garvey Library and some of the council’s customer service facilities.
Julie Davies, Haringey Council’s cabinet member for communities and civic life, said: “Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness and Marcus Garvey Library and Customer Service Centre are closed while our leisure partner Fusion Lifestyle conduct major works to resolve an issue affecting electricity supply to the building caused by a flood in the plant room.
“In order to minimise disruption for residents needing support, we have increased capacity at Wood Green Customer Service Centre for the duration of the closure. Library users can access services and return items to any library in Haringey, and many library services are also available online or by phone.
“We apologise to residents for any inconvenience caused by this unplanned closure. We are working closely with Fusion to ensure that works are completed quickly so that we can get these services back up and running as soon as possible.”
