The fire is believed to have been caused by ‘hot works’

Two adults and one child were led to safety by firefighters during a fire which broke out yesterday (15th March).
The fire occurred in a building made up of shops and flats on West Green Road, South Tottenham, with the London Fire Brigade called at 11.51am. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters rushed to the scene. The fire was under control by 12.49pm.
13 people vacated the building, while the two adults and child were guided via an internal staircase by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. One woman was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.
Part of the flat roof of a communal staircase was damaged by the fire. The spark is believed to have been caused by ‘hot works’, meaning any work with potential to generate sufficient heat, sparks or flame which may lead to the outbreak of fire.
