Roj Women founds earthquake support group

A local women’s organisation has escalated their efforts to support those impacted by the Turkey Syria earthquake

Turkey and Syria earthquake

A local women’s organisation has started delivering a support group in the hope of supporting London residents impacted by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

Roj Women is a not-for-profit organisation which works to support Kurdish, Turkish, Cypriot Turkish, migrant, and refugee women living in London. The earthquake support group will begin on Monday, 17th April at 11.30am and will be held at the Selby Centre in Tottenham. This group is only open to women, but a second group, on 16th April at 1pm at the Kurdish Community Centre, is open to all.

The group aims to support those affected by the earthquake in the following ways: whose exposure to visual media took a toll on their mental health; whose relatives experienced the earthquake; who volunteered on the ground during the quake; or who experienced the earthquake themselves.

The sessions will be supported by systemic family psychotherapists Fadime Tiskaya and Ferhan Sterk.
