Man charged with murder three years after fatal Tottenham shooting

A man has been charged with murder and multiple other offences relating to the killing of a man in Tottenham three years ago.

Ali Syed, aged 30 and of Knebworth Avenue, Walthamstow, was arrested by Cypriot authorities in June on suspicion of murder, before being extradited to the UK on Tuesday (15th).

Talip Guzel was shot at the junction of White Hart Lane and Pretoria Road, at around 11.30pm on Sunday, 30th July 2023 and died a short time later.

Jan Mercan, aged 25 and of Burford Gardens in Palmers Green, was charged with the murder of Talip a few weeks later, but was found not guilty by a jury following a trial last November. Stanislava Kukusheva, aged 36 and of Compton Crescent in Tottenham, was found guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon at the same trial.

This week, Syed was charged with murder, as well as four counts of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

Syed is due to appear at the Old Bailey today (Friday 18th).
