Two men charged with murder of teenager in South Tottenham

Tyler McDermott, 17, died in hospital from gunshot wounds after being attacked in the early hours of last Thursday

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager in South Tottenham have charged two men.

Tyrese Barnett, 19, of no fixed address, and Leo Reid, also 19, of Tulse Hill, were arrested on Saturday (15th) and charged the following day with the murder of Tyler McDermott.

Barnett was also charged with the attempted murder of another male and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Reid was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Both are due to appear in custody at Highbury Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 17th).

Officers were called at approximately 4.20am on Thursday (13th) to reports of a male injured in Norman Road, South Tottenham. Paramedics and police attended and found a male, aged 17, suffering with gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died on Friday (14th).
