YUE Hong Kong closed its doors a mere two weeks after opening, after saying it was ‘broken into’
The circumstances surrounding the closure of a Muswell Hill restaurant have prompted speculation, after the business shut its doors only two weeks after opening.
YUE Hong Kong said on an Instagram post on Wednesday, 10th May, that the restaurant had been ‘broken into illegally’ and that they would be closed temporarily.
The post continued: “We need to temporarily close the business and hand over the CCTV records to the police for investigation.”
But, according to a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police, there is no record of a break-in at the address.
On Monday, 15th May, YUE Hong Kong announced that the closure would be permanent. Posting on Instagram, the account @muswell_hill_residents_assoc_ commented on the post: “Probably for the best if you’re not paying your staff.”
Haringey Community Press reached out to the restaurant for comment, after which their Instagram account was deleted.
The closure follows further blows to Muswell Hill Broadway, as cafe The Hedgehog announced its closure the same week. Planet Organic, another high street staple, was threatened with closure, but has since had its lease renewed.
