Tottenham community nab free tickets to see Beyoncé

500 residents will be lucky enough to see Beyoncé perform during her stop off in Haringey, reports Olivia Opara

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has given out 500 free Beyoncé tickets to the local community – with the Grammy award-winning star hitting the stage this week.

This week, Tottenham Hotspurs gifted 500 community tickets to residents living in N17 and N15 postcode areas, community groups, local schools and businesses. This comes as part of the club’s community ticket scheme which was launched last year; the club has since given out 11,000 community tickets to a variety of events.

A spokesperson for Tottenham Hotspurs said: “Our community ticket scheme has provided thousands of residents, community organisations and school groups with the opportunity to see some of the world’s biggest pop stars and experience a range of world-class sporting events.”

Sister System, a Tottenham-based charity that supports young female care-leavers, were offered ten community tickets by Haringey Council on behalf of Spurs.

Okela Douglas, founder and director of Sister System, said: “Our partnership with Spurs’ community ticket scheme has enabled us to provide ten of these phenomenal young women who live in Tottenham the opportunity to be a part of what will be one of the most epic concerts to come to their ‘endz’.

“This partnership really does demonstrate that the ecosystem of services providing programmes and initiatives for the young people across the borough empowers them to be a part of their community and wider society.”

Similarly, Daughters United, a local community organisation that brings together women across different generations to create a safer and more connected community, was given six community tickets by Spurs.

Caroline and Emily Oduro, founders of Daughters United, said: “It was an amazing and huge surprise for us to receive these tickets and to have Beyoncé in our own backyard has been really uplifting and inspiring for the community.”

“Spurs are one of the few football clubs that has been able to do something like this which is great for the community and the local traders.”

Approximately 50,000 people will attend Beyoncé concerts each night – almost 250,000 people in total, more than double the total population of Tottenham.

The club is the only stadium in the world where Beyoncé will be spending more than one night, with five shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this week.
