Banners in North London has been a staple of the high street for 30 years and hopes to have the ‘best few months of us ever’ before it closes in September
A much-loved Crouch End restaurant is set to close its doors from September, after three decades on the high street.
Banners on Park Road was opened by owner Juliette Banner, but after 30 years in the business, Juliette is set to move on from the hospitality business.
Head chef Tim is also moving on from the “restaurant world”, Juliette said: “Tim has been the Banner’s head chef for 30 years. The Banner’s food is Tim’s! He is responsible for all the favourite dishes folk will miss.
She added: “We are very lucky. We are closing down because I am moving on from the restaurant world and so is the head chef, Tim.”
The restaurant has come to be a favourite among locals and those further afield for its flavourful brunches, with Spanish, Latin American and Jamaican influences. Bob Dylan also famously dined at the food spot in August 1993 – a fact which is commemorated with a framed photograph and special plaque marking the ‘Bob Dylan table’.
Juliette concluded: “The focus now is for staff and customers to have the best few months of us ever! Though outdoing the last three decades is a heck of a challenge.”
