Rooftop Assembly takes its name from the ‘rooftop sessions’ band members started playing during lockdown

A Tottenham band is set to take to the stage at Glastonbury Festival this summer.
Rooftop Assembly was formed during lockdown, when Tottenham-based singer-songwriter James Riley invited band members to play atop a roof to raise money for Food Banks UK.
After hosting 21 weeks of gigs with various bands, James reached out to grimes artists for collaboration, joining forces with Kayes Mensah, a Tottenham MC, and Tina Tammi – creating a folk grimes fusion.
After their ‘rooftop sessions’, the band got booked up for shows and festivals such as The Great Escape and The Long Road, crowdfunding for funds to record their debut album in a studio. Now, Rooftop Assembly has been invited to play at one of the UK’s biggest festivals, Glastonbury.
The group said: “We’re excited beyond words – we never would have guessed that playing gigs on a Tottenham rooftop during lockdown would eventually take us to the world’s greatest music festival.
“We’re so grateful for all the support we’ve recieved from the local community, and we’re so glad we can share our full Glastonbury set at The Post Bar on 18th June, for those who can’t make it to the festival this year!”
