Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Andre Salmon in South Tottenham have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with their inquiries.

Eighteen-year-old Andre was shot at around 5pm on Monday afternoon (3rd July) while riding a moped in Stamford Crescent. He continued riding into Constable Crescent where he collided with a parked car and collapsed due to his injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No-one has yet been arrested in connection with the incident, which is being treated as a murder investigation. However, police have now released an image of a man they’d like to speak to.

Detective Constable Inspector Dave Whellams said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace, and as part of our inquiries we have now identified an individual we would like to trace. Have you seen 18-year-old Reagan Konin? Do you have information regarding his whereabouts?

“If you can help, please contact us. Konin is believed to have connections to Tottenham, Haringey, and North London in general. If seen, I would urge members of the public not to approach him, but to call 999.”

Andre’s next of kin are being supported by specialist officers and a post-mortem examination is expected to be held today (Friday 7th).

Yesterday (Thursday 6th) residents in the area where Andre was killed expressed shock and disbelief when they spoke to HCP about the incident, while police investigators and forensic teams were spotted entering a block of flats on nearby Victoria Road.

A key witness said that they were present at the time Andre collapsed on Constable Crescent and had recognised him as a local of the area. The witness, who did not want to be named, told HCP: “I saw him coming down the road, around the corner and he had hit a parked car before he collapsed. I called the police but he had passed before they arrived.”

It was only on Wednesday night (5th) that the police reopened both Stamford Road and Constable Crescent, which had been cordoned off for three days.

A resident of Stamford Road said: “It’s only today [Thursday] that we can finally go out freely and over the last couple of days, we couldn’t leave without giving our names and numbers to the police.”

Another resident of Stamford Road told HCP she was home during the time of the incident but did not know about it until the police started cornering off the road. “I heard that he was only 18, he’s just a baby – my youngest is his age,” she said.

“I grieve for the parents. When stuff like this happens it is the parents that I grieve for. I can only imagine what his mother is going through right now.”

A resident of Constable Crescent near where Andre died added: “It’s quite scary because this happened during the day.

“Recently there have been a lot of these incidents and they keep getting closer and closer to home, but I hope that people remember that this is still Tottenham and that this place is a good place.”

The investigation continues. DCI Whellams said: “My thoughts are with the family and friends of young Andre, who has lost his life in devastating circumstances. This incident was even more shocking given it took place on a residential street in broad daylight.

“My officers have been working around the clock to establish what has happened and we will do everything in our power to identify the individual responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.

“While we carry out various inquiries I would appeal to anyone who believes they may have information which could assist this investigation to come forward. No detail is too small and if you don’t feel comfortable speaking to police you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, lead for policing in Haringey, added: “My colleagues and I are truly saddened by the news of another young life lost in our borough, and I know this is a sentiment shared by the wider community who will also have justified concerns about the incident.

“I want to reassure those living in Haringey that the investigation team are working diligently to find out what happened and identify the person responsible.”
