The local community initiative traded urban grown fruit and veg, reports Miriam Balanescu

A local initiative which traded urban grown fruit and veg has announced it will close in the Borough.
Crop Drop ran for nearly nine years, but says the business is now not “financially viable”.
The team at Crop Drop stated: “As we wrap up our affairs and send our remaining funds to Growing Communities to continue the good work, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported us throughout the nearly nine years of trading, especially our amazing volunteers, farmers, customers and drop point hosts. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
“We’re so proud to have created a local veg scheme for Haringey and pass it on to Growing Communities to continue. We’re also proud of our efforts to set up a community food growing hub at the Wolves Lane Centre. Over the five years we were there we helped establish an organic growing site, a volunteer programme, food growing workshops, cooking classes, supper clubs and the covid meal project. We’re so pleased to see the building works finally in full swing and we are sure it will usher in a new era for the centre.”
