Muswell Hill student’s work goes on show at Royal Academy of Arts

Nico’s artwork was selected out of 21,700 entries

A student from Muswell Hill has had his work showcased at the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) this month after entering a competition in which thousands of young people took part.

Nico, who attends Tetherdown Primary School, was one of 250 students chosen out of 21,700 entrants – and now has his work on display at the RA as part of the Young Artists’ Summer Show.

The exhibition showcases art by students aged four-19 and will be open to the public until 13th August. The work includes drawings, paintings, photographs, video and sculpture.

Nico said: “First I didn’t want to do it so that’s what I wrote and then I started to enjoy colouring and disguising the words. I spent ages on it and was really happy when I handed it in. When I found out I got in I was shocked but so proud and glad that I actually did it!”

Members of the public can vote for their favourite artwork as part of the People’s Choice Award.
