Council’s parks and green spaces strategy to launch at summit

The much-anticipated parks and green spaces strategy – deciding on how spaces like Parkland Walk will be made more accessible – will be revealed this weekend, reports Olivia Opara

A park summit to recognise parks and greenspaces will mark the introduction of a new local policy.

On Saturday, 16th September, Haringey Council is hosting a park summit in celebration of the 151 parks and greenspaces across the borough – 148 of which it manages. At the summit, a new 15-year parks and greenspaces strategy will also officially launch. The policy aims to make all parks and green spaces fully inclusive shared spaces, focusing on: inclusion and wellbeing, climate change, biodiversity and sustainability and service quality.

The summit will entail a range of free activities such as Tai Chi, Ecuadorian folk dance performances, and football and basketball sessions for young people. There will also be workshops such as a live workshop with Dr Julia King and team from LSE Cities on mapping as a method for social research and analysis.

The summit will be held as Ducketts Common, N15 3DX. To find out more, visit Haringey Parks Summit Tickets, Sat 16 Sep 2023 at 11:00 | Eventbrite.
