Firefighters responded to a power surge affecting multiple properties in Wood Green this morning (Tuesday 30th).

The power surge originated from an electrical sub station and caused consumer units to overheat.

London Fire Brigade said an area between Braemar Road and Imperial Road was affected.

Crews attended approximately 100 properties to check and isolate the electrical supply and give advice to residents.

Due to the high volume of calls, our 999 control officers introduced batch mobilisation, meaning calls where there is a risk to life are prioritised and crews then attend other calls as non-emergencies when they can.

The brigade was called at 12.55am and the incident was under control by 2.22am. Crews from Hornsey and surrounding fire stations attended.
