Funded by Haringey Council and the local NHS, HCC will be delivered by Public Voice in partnership with Mind in Haringey

The voluntary and community sector (VCS) in Haringey will be “stronger, able to attract more funding and deliver better services” thanks to a new capacity-building partner.

Funded by Haringey Council and the local NHS, Haringey Community Collaborative (HCC) will be delivered by Public Voice in partnership with Mind in Haringey who, utilising their knowledge and expertise, plan to work “creatively and innovatively together” for the benefit of the borough’s diverse communities.

Speaking at Mind in Haringey’s HQ on Stapleton Hall Road in Finsbury Park, the newly established HCC pledged to build upon the work done by The Bridge Renewal Trust to bolster the sector in Haringey over the last eight years.

They’ve also vowed to engage residents, the VCS, Haringey Council, the NHS and others to improve services and reduce inequalities
involve organisations and residents in all levels of decision making, and strive to make voices heard and support individuals and communities to flourish.

Public Voice and Mind in Haringey were officially announced as the council’s VCS capacity-building partner back in February following a tendering process.

Ajda Ovat, Haringey’s new cabinet member for communities, attended the event with the council leader, Peray Ahmet. Cllr Ovat said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed the new cabinet member for communities and look forward to working with the Haringey Community Collaborative working in partnership between Public Voice and Mind in Haringey.

“As a council, we are investing in our voluntary and community sector through a capacity-building partner that understands the specific needs of our different communities to support and develop a vibrant VCS for the benefit of Haringey residents.

“With a commitment to – and an emphasis on – transparency, partnership working and capacity building, both organisations recognise the value of building trusting relationships and are ambitious and innovative in their approach to the delivery of this new service.

“They have a strong track record of supporting other, smaller VCS organisations through channelling funding to them and providing funding transparency.

“Importantly too, they have extensive experience of – and are committed to – co-production and engagement with our diverse communities and service users.”

Dan Rogers, CEO of Public Voice, said: “Having worked in partnership with many of the fantastic voluntary and community organisations in the borough over the past 10 years, Public Voice is excited to now be collaborating with Mind in Haringey to support the sector overall.

The CEO of Mind in Haringey, Lynette Charles, added: “Mind in Haringey is proud to be part of Haringey’s vibrant, passionate and diverse voluntary and community sector and has been serving the community in Haringey for over 35 years.

“We are excited to be partnering with Public Voice to strengthen, sustain, reach and build the borough’s voluntary and community sector.”
