The plans would see traffic restricted during school pick-up and drop-off times at Welbourne, Coldfall and Bounds Green primary schools

Three more ‘school streets’ are being proposed in Haringey with the council keen to ensure more children can benefit from “safe, healthy and active journeys”.
Public consultations are underway on plans to implement traffic restrictions on roads at Welbourne, Coldfall and Bounds Green primary schools during drop-off and pick-up times.
Haringey Council has already implemented 34 school streets with the aims of tackling pollution and protecting about 16,000 children.
Mike Hakata, cabinet member for climate action, environment and transport, said: “Our ambitious school streets programme is a key part of building a fairer, greener borough where children can travel to school in cleaner air and streets safe for walking, cycling and wheeling.
“There is no doubt our existing schemes are already transforming trips to school, and I’m delighted more communities will have the opportunity to benefit from a safer and healthier start and end to the school day.
“I’m keen to encourage people to share their views on our proposals and look forward to hearing feedback.”
Evidence shows a 42% reduction in traffic across existing school streets in the borough, as well as vehicle emissions (NOx) reducing by 26%. Only people walking, cycling and wheeling, and those with vehicle exemption permits, are eligible to enter the zone while the school street is in operation.
The easiest way to have your say on the proposed schemes is by completing the short online questionnaire here. The deadline to submit comments is Friday, 21st August.
