Arrest made in Tottenham murder probe

A 56-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting in Waltheof Gardens on Tuesday

A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man aged in his 40s in Tottenham.

On Tuesday (15th) at 9am police were called to Waltheof Gardens following reports of a man with a gunshot injury. The victim died at the scene.

A 56-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a North London police station.

Although police believe this was an isolated incident and do not believe the wider public is at risk, detectives are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are yet to formally identify the victim of this tragic incident. We will continue to carry out efforts to ensure his family are informed and supported by specialist officers. A post-mortem examination will also be scheduled in due course.

“We are appealing for anyone who was present in the area who may have seen or heard anything relating to this incident to please get in touch.

“We want to thank the local community for their patience whilst we conduct our enquiries in the area in the coming days.”
