Local residents are being invited to submit their views on how to make the borough’s transport network “safer and more sustainable”

Local people are being given the chance to have their say on how to make Haringey’s transport network “safer and more sustainable”.
A dedicated online platform has been launched by Haringey Council to allow the voices of residents and businesses to be heard as it embarks on an “ambitious review” of its transport strategy.
The current plan, dating from 2018, has delivered 34 ‘school streets’, nearly 300 EV charging points, hundreds of revamped pavements and the start of some new protected cycle routes.
Now, the council is undertaking a “coproduction exercise” to develop a new 15-year strategy that “reflects the transformative changes in how we think about transport, streets and public spaces”. It will aim to “put health, accessibility and climate action at its heart”.
Mike Hakata, cabinet member for climate action, environment and transport, said: “Since 2018, there has been a fundamental shift in how we view transport and its impact on our communities. The importance of active and sustainable travel as key drivers for improving public health, tackling air pollution and addressing climate change has become even more evident.
“While we’ve made significant progress, we know there is much more to do. Reducing road danger, ensuring accessibility for all, and creating high-quality public spaces are at the heart of our vision. That’s why we’re reaching out to hear your ideas – whether you walk, wheel, cycle, use public transport or drive.
“This isn’t just about moving from A to B, it’s about creating a safer, greener and fairer borough for everyone. Join us in shaping this vital strategy that will guide Haringey’s transport priorities for the next 15 years.”
The deadline for responses to the survey is Friday, 29th November. To request a paper copy of questionnaire, email [email protected]
