The 40 crates of food and other household items are estimated to be worth around £1,300, reports Hannah Bentley

A Haringey foodbank has received 40 crates of food items thanks to collections from a Wood Green opticians.
The local branch of Specsavers has been organising donations from staff and customers since the beginning of December and estimates that this year’s collection for Bounds Green Food Bank is worth around £1,300, surpassing previous efforts.
As a result of rising bill costs during the winter months and the continued cost-of-living crisis, Bounds Green Food Bank says it has seen a sharp increase in the number of people using their services.
The charity currently provides over 500 families with cupboard staples, fresh produce, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies. The foodbank also offers a free advice service.
The donations were delivered this week to St Michael’s Church Hall in Bounds Green Road, where the foodbank is open twice a week.
A Bounds Green Food Bank spokesperson said: “We’re so thankful to Specsavers Wood Green for organising yet another fantastic collection for our foodbank guests. Initiatives like this are crucial in ensuring we can continue to support the many families who rely on us each week.”
