Erline Prescott served a further term as mayor from 2003 to 2004 and also represented West Green ward for many years in the 1990s and 2000s

Friends and family gathered to pay tribute at the funeral of a former councillor and the borough’s first black female mayor.
Erline Prescott, who died in November, was a staunch advocate for Haringey’s children and young people and was a ward councillor for West Green in the 1990s (1990-98) and 2000s (2002-06).
Erline was the deputy mayor between 1993 and 1994 before carving out her own slice of Haringey history a year later (1994/95) by becoming the borough’s first black female mayor. She served a further term as mayor from 2003 to 2004.
In a statement the council said: “A warm and wonderful woman, Erline made her mark in performing this civic duty twice and achieved a great many other things besides.
“Erline held her family in high regard and they can look back upon all of her achievements with a great sense of pride.
“She will be remembered as a key figure in the Haringey community. As a mark of respect, a minute’s silence was held for Erline at the full council meeting in November.
“Erline will be fondly remembered and – on behalf of the people of Haringey – we send our sincerest condolences to her family and friends.”
