Haringey Council is investing £1.5m on projects to improve eight parks but wants residents to help decide how it will be spent, reports Grace Howarth, Local Democracy Reporter

Haringey Council is seeking feedback from residents on proposed improvement works in eight parks following £1.5million of investment.
The local authority has reached out in a bid to “co-design each of the eight projects and meet the local needs in those parks”.
Residents will get the opportunity to agree how the money will be allocated within each improvement scheme.
Bruce Castle Park, Downhills Park and Lordship Recreation Ground have been injected with £300,000, £250,000 and £250,000 respectively.
Facilities at Chestnuts Park, Markfield Park, Paignton Park and White Hart Lane Recreation Ground will also be bolstered with six-figure sums.
Chestnuts and Paignton have each received £150,000 towards play area improvements, while figure for Markfield Park and White Hart Lane Recreation Ground has not been specified.
Belmont Recreation Ground has also been earmarked for a sum.
Separately, the council has also secured around a quarter-of-a-million each for Downhill, Bruce Castle, and Hartington Parks from the Football Foundation to improve their multi-use games areas (MUGAs).
A consultation has been launched for six of the eight projects.
The council is asking residents to complete online surveys, with the deadline for Bruce Castle and Downhills Parks and Belmont and Lordship Recreation Grounds set for Monday, 2nd June.
An in-person pop-up for Downhills Park will be held on 20th May from 10.30am-12.30pm, while Lordship has one scheduled on the same day from 2.30pm-4.30pm.
The online surveys for Chestnuts and Paignton Parks close on Sunday, 15th June.
An in-person engagement event for Chestnuts will be held Tuesday, 20th May, from 10.30am-12.30pm, while one for Paignton will be held on Friday, 23rd from 2.30pm-4.30pm.
Speaking in February, the council’s cabinet member for culture and leisure, Emily Arkell, said: “We will ensure the new play spaces are fully accessible, inclusive and welcoming to all children in line with the commitments we made in the Parks and greenspaces strategy.”
