Haringey residents can get the latest updates on traffic jams and roadworks sent directly to their phones

A new service to help drivers and commuters in Haringey beat traffic jams has been launched.
Backed by Haringey Council, which manages most of the borough’s roads, the new Traffic Text Alerts service offers real-time updates straight to mobile phones to help residents and visitors plan their journeys more efficiently.
The updates include instances where the council has temporarily adjusted traffic filters in low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs).
The service is free and is designed to ease congestion and help drivers avoid traffic hotspots. Updates will be sent vis SMS text message directly to people’s mobile phones.
Seema Chandwani, the council’s cabinet member for resident services and tackling inequality, said: “Traffic has been a major frustration for our residents, and we’ve heard them loud and clear. We’ve taken action by introducing a new system designed to help people plan their journeys more smoothly, avoid unnecessary delays, and stay ahead of disruptions.
“This service is simple, free, and open to everyone, whether you’re a resident, a local business, or just visiting the borough. By providing real-time traffic updates, we’re giving people the tools to make informed travel choices, reduce congestion, and improve overall traffic flow across Haringey.”
