Wood Green Station has been shortlisted for step-free access upgrades by Transport for London (TfL).

TfL this week announced the next round of stations selected for a step-free access feasibility study. Factors considered to determine which stations were selected include sufficient space for works to be carried out, addressing gaps in areas that have fewer step-free stations and benefits to customers.

The announcement is part of Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan’s commitment of making 50% of all stations on the tube network step-free by 2030, improving accessibility and forging safer journeys for many Londoners. Only around one third of the network is fully accessible at present.

The feasibility study will investigate the constraints, opportunities, and options for Wood Green to become step-free. The delivery of future schemes will also depend on future funding positions at each location.

Joanne McCartney, London Assembly member for Enfield and Haringey, said: “I know that residents will be hopeful in hearing the news that Wood Green Station is under consideration for step-free access.

“The mayor’s commitment to making 50% of all stations on the tube network step-free by 2030 is ambitious, but essential for building a fairer city. All residents across Haringey deserve convenient, comfortable, and safe access to our world class transport system.

“This announcement brings us one step closer to accomplishing this.”
