Police probe after pro-Palestine activists vandalise local Labour Party office

The attack was targeted against Justice Secretary David Lammy, whose Tottenham constituency staff use the building in Crouch End

The vandalism at Hornsey and Friern Barnet Labour Party

Pro-Palestine activists have vandalised a Labour Party HQ in Crouch End used by the office of Tottenham MP David Lammy.

The activists from Shut The System said they had “graffitied the demands of eight hunger strikers” across the building in Middle Lane on Wednesday morning (17th), amid criticism of Lammy in his role as deputy prime minister and justice secretary.

Eight members of Palestine Action, a group proscribed by the government as terrorists since July, are currently staging a hunger strike in jail. They are calling on Lammy and the government to bring “an end to media censorship, immediate bail, the right to a fair trial, the de-proscription of Palestine Action and to close all sites of Israel’s main arms supplier, Elbit Systems”.

The Metropolitan Police has said no arrests have yet been made in relation to the vandalism at the office of Hornsey and Friern Barnet Labour Party, which is also used by staff for Lammy’s Tottenham constituency.

Lammy recently refused a request by more than 50 MPs to meet the hunger strikers. Lawyers acting on their behalf say they may die without his intervention.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene and found that graffiti had been sprayed on the building.

“No arrests have been made. An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 3165/17Dec.”

Lammy did not respond to a request for comment.
