A community organisation is recruiting 15 young people from Haringey to take part in a project to better connect a local youth club with Wood Green High Street and the wider community.

Archibeats, a community interest company (CIC) specialising in youth-led spatial design, is running the six-week programme commissioned by Harringay Council which will pair selected participants with architects and designers to redesign the external space surrounding Wood Green’s Rising Green Youth Hub.

The programme aims to improve visibility and access to the high street and wider community, address safeguarding issues by improving overlooked routes and unlock more outdoor green spaces for safe use.

Through structured workshops, participants will learn architectural software, surveying techniques and design thinking while developing practical proposals for their local area. The programme will culminate in participants presenting proposals which Archibeats hope to showcase in a public exhibition.

Four selected participants will also receive work placement opportunities and spend two days working with Archibeats and their partners PRP Architects, at their central London studio.

Archibeats has previously worked in partnership with the National Trust and local authorities, with many past participants going on to pursue further education or careers in architecture and design. Their work focuses on building confidence and self-esteem, while introducing young people to potential pathways in architecture, design, and public speaking.

The programme is free to join, with limited spaces available, and is open to anyone living in the borough between the ages of eleven to 19. Young people from across Haringey with an interest in design, creativity, or shaping their local environment are encouraged to apply.

The programme will begin during the February half-term, on Tuesday 17th, with sessions running once a week.

Applications are now open for Harringay residents interested in the programme:
