A parents and teachers association in Tottenham Hale has launched a crowdfunding appeal to cover the cost of new playground “transformation” project.

Ferry Lane Parents, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) is aiming to raise £75,000 to fund the creation of a “safe, inspiring place for children to play, learn and thrive”.

The project would include improved play equipment, shaded seating areas and an outdoor learning zone, designed to “support physical activity, wellbeing, and outdoor education for our pupils”.

Ferry Lane Primary School serves 179 children and continues to achieve outcomes above the national average, despite the ongoing funding pressures faced by many schools.

As the wider Tottenham Hale area continues to grow, the school plays “an increasingly important role as a stable, community anchor for local families”.

The PTFA is seeking support from local housing associations and development partners through small grants, social value contributions, or matched funding to help reach the £75,000 target.

The group claims that the current playground at Ferry Lane “doesn’t reflect the potential of the pupils who use it” but that “with increasing financial pressures on schools, projects like this are often out of reach without community support”.
