Police appeal for help finding suspect after antisemitic attack in Tottenham park

A Jewish man, aged in his 20s, was assaulted alongside his three-year-old son

Detectives are appealing to the public to help identify the person responsible for an unprovoked antisemitic attack in Tottenham earlier this month.

Police were called to Markfield Park at around 5:30pm on Saturday, 4th July after a man, aged in his 20s, was assaulted alongside his three-year-old son.

The suspect also made threatening remarks towards the victims as well as the wider Jewish community. Neither required any medical attention.

The suspect is described as a mixed-race man, of medium height and of muscular build. He has short hair, stubble and a tattoo on his left bicep. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white cap and riding a red/orange e-bike.

The incident was reported to police by a member of the public, and response officers arrived within ten minutes.

Since the attack, detectives have carried out extensive enquiries, including examining CCTV and gathering victim-statements.

Detective Constable Benny Palmer, leading the investigation, said: “This was a shocking, unprovoked attack and we know it will cause concern to the local community.

“We’re doing all we can to identify the offender and are asking the public to get in touch with us if they have any relevant information – particularly any footage that was filmed at the park during the early evening of Saturday, 4th July or those with doorbells or dashcams near to Crawford Road, Seven Sisters.

“Across the Met, we are continuing our work to provide visible, intelligence-led and co-ordinated patrols to protect our Jewish communities and keep people safe.”
