One man also jumped from the first floor before London Fire Brigade arrived

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat above a takeaway restaurant on Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park yesterday (Thursday 5th).
The flat on the second floor and roof were completely destroyed by fire. Part of the first floor was also damaged by the blaze. Eight people were evacuated by firefighters.
One man jumped from the first floor before the brigade arrived. He was treated on scene for minor injuries by London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.
The cause of the fire was blamed on combustible items being kept too close to a heat source.
Station Commander Adam Lawson, who was at the scene, said: “Local residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
“There was very heavy traffic and motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area.”
The brigade’s 999 control officers received the first of nine calls at 4.52pm. They deployed crews from Holloway, Stoke Newington, Hornsey and surrounding fire stations. The fire was under control by 8.25pm.
