Parents accused of killing baby daughter go on trial

The parents of a 10-week-old girl who died in 2018 will appear in court this week after being charged by police with her murder.

Lily-Mai St George was found unresponsive at a flat in Tottenham on January 31st, 2018. She was rushed to North Middlesex Hospital in a “critical and life-threatening condition” and transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital, where she died two days later. An inquest found she had 19 rib fractures and a serious head injury at the time of her death.

Lily-Mai’s parents – Darren Hurrell, 25, of Meadow Lane in Derby, and Lauren Saint-George, 25, of Bonnington House in Enfield – will appear for trial at Wood Green Crown Court. They have been charged with the following offences:

  • Murder – victim under one year old

  • Cause / allow the death of a child / vulnerable adult.

  • Manslaughter

  • Assault / ill-treat / neglect / abandon a child / young person to cause unnecessary suffering / injury

Their trial starts on Monday, June 13th.
