A 15-year-old male has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of Ali Baygören.

Police responded to reports of a male stabbed in Orchard Place, Tottenham at approximately 12:10hrs on Saturday, June 18th. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Ali – a newly qualified electrician – died from his injuries.

Family members say Ali had been on his way to work at a market when he was attacked outside his home. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

The 15-year-old male will appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, June 20th). Two further males – aged 16 and 17 – were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

As a result of the stabbing, hundreds of members of the Kurdish community marched to Tottenham Police station, calling for an end to gang violence on Sunday.

Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are investigating the incident. A further demonstration is due to take place in Orchard Place, N17 8BH at 7pm tonight.
