Covid-19 rates remain low in Haringey

Coronavirus infection rates remain low in Haringey nearly two months after the easing of lockdown began.

The latest data shows the seven-day rates in the boroughs are among the lowest in London, with cases close to zero in many areas.

Haringey’s infection rate was 15 new per 100,000 people in the seven days to April 28 – the seventh-lowest in the capital.

The rates are little changed from the first week in April, when the borough saw below 20 new Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.

It is now more than eight weeks since schools opened their doors to all pupils in the first stage of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown. This month is set to see the third stage of lockdown lifting, when ministers aim to allow a further easing of restrictions on social contact – including allowing separate households to meet indoors.

The worst-affected part of Haringey in the week to April 28 was Roundway, with four new cases of Covid-19. Three cases were recorded in: Scotch Estate, Muswell Hill South, Harringay Ladder North, Downhills Park and Tottenham Green East.

The remaining areas of the borough recorded fewer than three cases of the virus.

Infection rate data is based on figures from Public Health England published on the government’s online coronavirus dashboard. It is subject to slight variations, as the figures are continually updated.

To protect individuals’ identities, exact numbers are not provided for areas with fewer than three cases of the virus.
