A Haringey care provider has become the first to be rated ‘outstanding’ in the borough.

Bluebird Care Highgate & Haringey was rated ‘outstanding’ overall at its first ever inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The care provider – which supports people across the borough living in their own homes – was commended for its responsiveness, while customer care plans were judged as being proactive, thorough, and reflecting the individual needs of how each customer wishes to receive their care.

The report also stated that “not all people received support with their nutritional needs”. However, there was also positive recognition of Bluebird’s performance and approach during the COVID-19 pandemic, where robust infection control practices and precautions were introduced to minimise the risk of infection.

To celebrate, the mayor of Haringey, Gina Adamou, visited Bluebird’s offices to meet the team and present certificates in July. Cllr Adamou said: “This is a remarkable achievement given the challenges brought about by the unprecedented impacts of the pandemic. On behalf of everyone in Haringey I’d like to thank the whole team for the amazing work they do to support some of our most vulnerable residents.”

Terina Jones, registered care manager at Bluebird, said: My colleagues and I are delighted that our hard work has been recognised in this way. We have all played our part in achieving the highest possible rating with the CQC. I am so proud of everyone.”

George Morris, one of the Bluebird’s directors, said: “Terina and the entire team have created an exceptionally positive working environment that runs through all the work they do and care they deliver on a day-to-day basis. I am overjoyed with the ‘outstanding’ rating and that we are the only provider in the borough of Haringey that have achieved this accolade. The inspector’s report is so positive and a real testament to the amazing care and support the team delivers.”
