Fresh police appeal after Wood Green woman hit and killed by car on zebra crossing

Police are appealing for witnesses and information as they continue to investigate the death of a pensioner hit by a car as she crossed the road in Wood Green.

Wood Green resident Grigoria Yiannoullou, aged 83, was crossing Bury Road at a zebra crossing with her husband when they were both hit by a car on Tuesday, 7th November at around 11.15am.

They were both taken to hospital for treatment. The man was discharged following treatment but sadly the woman died as a result of her injuries on 11th November.

Detective Sergeant Rebecca Collens said: “This incident happened on a zebra crossing on Bury Road, close to the junction of Lymington Avenue in Wood Green. If you were in the area and witnessed the incident, or if you were a driver who may have captured events on dashcam footage, then please get in contact if you have yet to do so.”

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has subsequently been interviewed under caution as part of this investigation – she has not been arrested.
