A teaching pool in Tottenham has reopened – a year after the leisure facilities were first closed in December 2022.

Tottenham Green Pools and Fitness’ teaching pool reopened to the public last week (16th January), while the main pool remains closed.

The leisure facilities first closed in December 2022 following a major fault due to flooding to the plant room.

Swim sessions have now resumed at the teaching pool, with the main pool closed off pending cleaning and maintenance work to be carried out by Fusion Lifestyle.

Haringey Council has said they hope to reopen the main pool by February half-term.

Cabinet member for culture, communities and leisure Emily Arkell, said: “I’m delighted that we are finally able to announce that the teaching pool is reopening at Tottenham Green, with the main pool to follow in a few weeks.

“This has been a complicated piece of work and I know that many residents have been extremely frustrated with the closure of the pools throughout 2023, but thanks to hard work by our specialist staff and contractors we are able to start 2024 with the really positive news that we are now in a position to restore swimming provision in the east of the borough.

“I can’t wait to see residents back in the pools at Tottenham Green, and look forward to working together with our communities to provide a high quality leisure service going forward.”

This follows news that the council will be taking back the management of the borough’s leisure centres, which was previously outsourced to Fusion Lifestyle.
