The post office is now open seven days a week

Local councillors and MPs attended the official opening of the new Wood Green Post Office branch yesterday (6th February).
The new branch in The Mall, Wood Green, opened after major campaigns by locals and politicians including Catherine West, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green to keep a post office in the area.
The new store will be open seven days a week.
Catherine West MP said: “I really want to congratulate postmaster, Rizwan Salahuddin, for his big investment to re-open Wood Green Post Office and store at the heart of the shopping centre. He’s done a great job bringing back all the vital Post Office services, but also a well-stocked shop.”
Leader of Haringey Council Peray Ahmet and Ruth Gordon, cabinet member for home building, placemaking and local economy, also attended the celebration.
Cllr Peray Ahmet: “I’m delighted to be at the official opening of the Wood Green Post Office. Post Offices are such important local services but all too frequently vital services are disappearing from our High Streets. By working in
partnership, we now have a new, accessible Post Office at the heart of Wood Green.”
Postmaster Rizwan Salahuddin said: “I’m from Wood Green, so I’m very happy to be the postmaster for Wood Green. There’s been great feedback from customers about my post office and my retail range, which is very important to me. There’s been huge sales in the educational books. I’ve already had to restock and expand the area for this range.
“I’m proud to have lots of highly experienced Post Office and retail staff to help me manage my branches, including my post office manager at Wood Green, Raji Kaur, and my assistant manager Syed Hasnain. He went above and beyond, working long hours, to get the shop fully stocked and looking great for the opening day. I started as a counter clerk, but there were people who motivated me and gave me opportunities and I like to do the same for my staff, which is why I have a great staff who want to stay.”
Mo Islam, post office network provision manager, said: “We are delighted to have restored a Post Office to this area as we know how important a Post Office is to a community. The branch’s opening hours will make it very convenient for customers to visit.”
