Discounted memberships are available for students, over-65s and claimants of certain benefits, reports Taro Kaneko
Local leisure centres are offering new membership deals after being taken over this month by Haringey Council.
Tottenham Green, Park Road, New River and Broadwater Farm leisure centres are now offering discounted memberships and free one-day passes.
Discounted memberships are available for students, over-65s and claimants of certain benefits.
Students get a £13 discount on monthly membership, certain benefits claimants get a £20 discount, and over-65s can use all four council-run leisure centres for free from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
The centres are offering a free one-day pass to try the facilities including fully equipped gyms, group exercise classes and swimming pools.
The facilities were brought under council control earlier this month after previous operator, the sports and leisure managing company Fusion Lifestyle, failed to provide “the best quality service”.
In 2023, Tottenham Green Pools was shut for more than a year and Park Road Pools and Fitness was also shut due to maintenance issues. Since control of the leisure centres was finally ceded by Fusion on 1st October, the council has tried to revive life back into the centres with their new offers.
All existing members are required to re-register at their local leisure centre.
