Tottenham branch of Santander bank set to close

The banking chain has today announced a swathe of 95 branch closures across the UK

The Tottenham branch of Santander has been named as one of 95 that will close across the UK this year.

The retail bank said announced that as well as shutting down around one-fifth of its current branch network, a further 54 branches would see reduced opening hours and/or lose their counter service.

This is being done, says the bank, to “better serve the changing needs of customers” and “balance our investment across all the places where we interact with customers, to deliver the very best for them now and in the future”.

At the Tottenham branch in Tottenham High Road specifically, Santander says the closure will take place on 8th July and comes after an assessment revealed that 96% of branch customers “already use a variety of ways to do their banking”, with 74% using online, mobile or telephone banking services, while 50% also use another Santander branch.

The company added: “We’re aware of the impact of this decision, and will be here for you in person until this branch closes. We can offer support and answer any questions, so that you can make an informed decision on alternative ways to bank.”
