A Tottenham man has been charged with the murder of a woman in South London – having previously been charged with the murder of another woman near to where he lives.

Simon Levy, aged 40 and of Beaufoy Road in Tottenham, was last week charged with murdering 53-year-old Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo. He is due to appear via video-link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (25th).

Levy had previously been charged with murdering Sheryl Wilkins, aged 39, in Tottenham High Road in August.

The new charge relates to an incident that took place five months prior to Sheryl’s death. Police were called on Monday, 17th March to reports of an unresponsive woman at a property on the Aylesbury Estate, in Walworth.

Carmenza was pronounced dead at the scene. A police investigation was launched following a post-mortem examination, which was unable to determine a cause of death.

On Tuesday, 1st April, Levy was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was released under investigation while enquiries continued, including additional tests which remain ongoing to determine a cause of death.

On Thursday, 4th September, Levy was re-arrested in connection with Carmenza’s death and also for the murder of Sheryl Wilkins, 39, who died on Sunday, 24th August. He was quickly charged with Sheryl’s murder, but it has taken a further three months to charge him with also killing Carmenza.

Levy has also been charged with two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm, and intentional suffocation in relation to a separate incident on Tuesday, 21st January, also in Tottenham High Road.

All three cases are now being treated as part of a single, joined investigation. A trial date has been set for June 2026 at the Old Bailey.

Detectives believe there may be individuals who have information relevant to this investigation – or who are yet to report incidents which have directly impacted them – and are asking for people to come forward.

Commander Clair Kelland, who is leading the investigation, said: “As the lead for public protection at the Met, one of our main priorities is to better protect women and girls.

“The investigation into Simon Levy is one of great complexity. We are working closely with partners across relevant boroughs, including Haringey and Southwark, to encourage reporting and raise awareness of the support we can provide to victim-survivors.

“Whether you are a victim-survivor, or someone with information, we urge you to come forward and speak to us.”
