South Tottenham is one of many London Overground stations which have fostered community gardens, reports Olivia Opara

Two station assistants have turned part of a local train station into a community garden.
Azaz Khan and Ray McDonagh have converted part of South Tottenham Overground station into a community garden. Taking three years, the community garden grows a variety of plants and vegetables, helping to create new links between the station and the local community and inspiring an art project by students from nearby Gladesmore.
South Tottenham Station is one of many overground stations to have created a community garden in recent years which forms part of a wider Transport for London (TFL) initiative to transform disused platforms and unused spaces into creative green spaces to “improve the local environment”. TFL also hosts an annual staff gardening competition ‘In Bloom’ which South Tottenham won ‘best seasoned’ entry last year.
