Cornerstone say Priory Road is the ‘best site available’ for the 5G rollout

A telecommunications company has applied to build a 20 metre 5G mast between Alexandra Palace and Crouch End.
Cornerstone has applied to Haringey Council last month to place the tower next to tennis courts in Priory Park, N8.
The application includes the proposed installation of a telecommunications base station comprising a 20 metre monopole, six antennas, two dishes, two cabinets, and ancillary development.
In Cornerstone’s community information sheet, they quote the UK Health Security Agency’s findings in 2019, which say: “It is possible that there may be a small increase in overall exposure to radio waves when 5G is added to an existing network or in a new area. However, the overall exposure is expected to remain low relative to guidelines and, as such, there should be no consequences for public health.”
A spokesperson for Cornerstone told HCP: “Cornerstone understand that our mobile infrastructure impacts communities. We design our sites to ensure that they blend into the area as much as is possible while enabling quality digital connectivity to the communities we serve.
“Integral throughout is our pre-application engagement, for the proposed site we consulted with three ward councillor and the local MP.”
Cornerstone also said the proposed site will provide new 2G/3G/4G/5G coverage in the area and that seven potential sites were considered with this site “being the best site available” to provide the network improvements needed in the local area whilst minimising the visual impact of the proposal.
Full details of the plans can be found on Haringey’s public register under reference HGY/2023/3382.
Comments on the application can be made until Monday, 5th February, with a target decision date of 14th February.
