A series of events are being held next month at the Museum of Homelessness, writes Kinga Plata
A book about the history of Finsbury Park will be launched next month with an event at the recently-opened Museum of Homelessness.
A People’s History of Finsbury Park is a collection of thoughts, articles, poetry, history and quotes about Finsbury Park and surrounding area.
The Museum on Homelessness has announced two days of free events to celebrate the book’s launch. There will be a film night with an intimate screening of a film about the park with film-makers Benji Human, Joseph Wilson and Shiri Shalmy and popcorn, on Tuesday, 2nd July.
On the book launch day itself on Wednesday, 3rd July, there will be poetry readings from Hasan Kahya, one of the contributors to the book, plus a Finsbury Park inspired playlist.
Compiled over the last two years, and supported by Historic England, A People’s History of Finsbury Park is an anthology of 17 contributions exploring myths and legends about the area, untold stories of squatting, personal accounts, and poetry from people who live or have lived in the area.
Both events are free to attend and will be hosted by the Museum of Homelessness at Manor House Lodge, next to Manor House gate, from 6-8pm.
