Eight classic British films will be shown across the next two months at The Beehive, writes Belle Lun

North London film fans can revisit cult classics and explore the rebellious side of youth culture as Film Tottenham joins the UK-wide British Film Institute’s ‘Rip It Up’ film season with another programme of screenings.
Starting at the end of August and continuing until the end of October, cult films and contemporary favourites like Quadrophenia, Human Traffic and This Is England will all be screened at the The Beehive Pub in Stoneleigh Road.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Festival of Britain this year, the ‘rebel party’ theme explores the journey of British identity, from post-war rebellion to the online world of the 21st Century. The programme explores themes including coming-of-age self-expression, political protest against injustice, and hedonistic club and rave scenes, looking at how successive generations have defined themselves.
Film Tottenham is interpreting the theme through a focus on the evolution of youth culture from the 1970s to today, with a selection of films intended to engage audiences across generations.
The accompanying events will offer audiences insight into different creative disciplines, including documentary filmmaking, music production, radio, feature film production and independent filmmaking. The Young Soul Rebels event will also explore how music can inspire hope and rebellion.
Film Tottenham founder Adam Awni said he was “really proud” to be continuing efforts to grow the film community in Tottenham, while thanking The Beehive for providing a home for the programme.
The programme is supported by Film London, the BFI Film Audience Network and The National Lottery.
