The event returns to Bruce Castle Museum in Tottenham, reports Anna-Louise Adepegba

The Haringey History Fair will return this weekend with a range of talks and events.
The free event takes place this Saturday (16th) at Bruce Castle Museum and Archive, and will feature a range of local historians, arts organisations.
After last year’s fair could not take place due to renovation work in the east wing, organisers are particularly excited to welcome visitors back to the annual fair.
Organisers said: “May marks Local and Community History Month, and the History Fair will provide a time to reconnect, discover and be inspired by more of Haringey’s fascinating radical and pioneering history and community heritage.”
The day’s talks will take place in the museum’s Hankins Gallery, covering a variety of historical topics from across the borough.
Highlights include a talk from David Cracknell, former trustee of the Markfield Beam Engine, exploring Tottenham’s hidden treasures, rural origins, Victorian developments and modern day challenges.
Community historian Margaret Burr will present Priscilla Wakefield: Forgotten Heroine of Economics. The talk will examine the life of the Tottenham born writer and philanthropist, seen as the first woman to challenge Adam Smith, the ‘father of modern economics’, Margaret will highlight her findings and thoughts from over 200 years ago.
There will also be two contributions from the Shepherds Hill Allotment Association, one of the borough’s oldest and largest allotment sites. Jill Russell, will discuss the history of the Crouch End plots at 11.55am, while excerpts from Ian Potts’ unreleased film about the allotments will be screened during the lunch break.
Alongside the talks programme, visitors will be able to explore stalls from around 20 local cultural organisations throughout the day. A pop-up café in the museum’s Old Kitchen will also be open to guests.
Organisers said: “Looking for somewhere to explore a new found passion for local history and don’t know where to start? Or perhaps a seasoned museum- goer wanting to connect with like minded people.
“Either way, come to Bruce Castle Museum and Archive this Saturday 16th May for the Haringey History Fair!”
