A man has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Camilo Palacio in Wood Green last month.
Abass Ahmed, aged 22 of Tom Dove Place in Tottenham, has been charged with murder. He was due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court this morning (Friday).
A further six people have also been charged as part of the investigation into the fatal shooting on Sunday, 24th July.
Devonte Jackson, aged 27 of Elm Grove in Crouch End, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, were charged this week with arson, assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
Milan Kaleja, aged 30 from Margate, and Mohamed Ahmed Ali, aged 24 of Great Amwell Lane in Crouch End, were charged with assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
They appeared in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on 3rd August. Kaleja has been released on bail, and Ali has been remanded in custody, both to appear at Harrow Crown Court on 30th August.
Omar Mohamed, aged 18 of Gospatrick Road in Tottenham, and Anas Ali, aged 21 of Station Road in New Barnet, were both charged with perverting the course of justice. They were due to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday).
A number of other arrests have been made as part of this investigation. A 64-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder in Harlesden on Sunday, 31st July, has been released under investigation. A 25-year-old woman who was arrested at the same time on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been released under investigation.
An 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder at London City Airport on Monday, 1st August has been bailed pending further enquiries until late August. A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in Margate on Sunday, 31st July has been released under investigation.
A murder investigation was launched after police were called at around 9.30pm on Sunday, 24th July to reports of a shooting in High Road, Wood Green. Officers, including firearms officers, attended and found 23-year-old Camilo Palacio with a gunshot wound.
Officers immediately provided first aid until the arrival of London Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, Camilo, who was from Enfield, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene at 10pm.
A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to have been a gunshot wound to the chest.
