Markfield Road Festival and HCP team up on writing careers event

The panel talk, featuring five award-winning local writers, will take place on the Saturday of the festival

Haringey Community Press and Markfield Road Festival will be teaming up to share an insight into careers in writing for budding young wordsmiths or anyone interested in the written or spoken word.

The panel event, ‘Writing as a Creative Practice’, will take place on Saturday, 9th September at 3pm at The Cove on Markfield Road.

Our editor Miriam Balanescu will be joined by T.S. Eliot Prize shortlisted poet Jacqueline Saphra, award-winning short story writer Penny Woods, Tottenham’s 2021 Foyle Young Poet of the Year and BBC-featured spoken word artist Jibril Rose, bestselling children’s author Karen McCombie, and Tottenham Community Reporter and spoken word artist Olivia Opara.

In celebration of the second birthday of Haringey Community Press, the paper will host these five incredible local writers to discuss the importance of the local area in fuelling their creativity, finding the right form of writing for them, and how to turn writing into a creative career.

This event is totally free and community-run. To book your tickets, visit the Eventbrite page here.
