Green Lane Singers is hosting its first practice session on Monday, 19th October

A new local community choir is launching next week.
Green Lanes Singers is for anyone locally who loves to sing, with no prior experience in choirs needed.
The choir will sing a rich variety of music from folk songs to classical, to pop, jazz and everything in between.
Led by vocal coach and choir leader, Kathy Macaulay, Green Lanes Singers will meet on Monday evenings, from 7pm-8.30pm, at Christ Church West Green, Waldeck Road, Duckett’s Green.
Green Lanes Singers is the latest addition to a growing family of community choirs founded by award-winning conductor Hannah Brine, which includes Finsbury Park Singers, Victoria Park Singers and Walthamstow Singers.
Hannah says: “I love singing and sharing my passion with others. There is a great appetite for singing here in North London, and singing as part of a group is great for our mental health too.
“Green Lanes Singers will be accessible and friendly and will give people an opportunity to sing a wide range of repertoire. As a vocal expert and experienced choir leader, Kathy can help those who have never sung in a choir, or who might not have sung for a long time, to gain confidence in using their voice.”
Kathy adds: “Community choirs are a fantastic way of bringing together people from all backgrounds and experiences to share in the joy of singing. I’m really excited to be working with Hannah to launch Green Lanes Singers. We will use a combination of sheet music and learning by ear – so you really don’t need to have sung in a choir before to join us.”
The first rehearsal will take place at 7pm on Monday, 19th October. There will be eight rehearsals in the first term and the choir will give their debut performance on Monday, 14th December 2026.
